The Women’s Health Research and Training Center was created on the 15 September 2020 by Dr Onankoy Atshakala Onyangunga, Associate Professor at Université Notre Dame de Tshumbe, Democratic Republic of Congo.
Reduction of morbidity and mortality feto-maternal during pregnancy, childbirth and in the postpartum
Improve the health of women through research and training of Health Care and Research personnel.
Research and Training focused on the needs and priorities of the Government on maternal and fetal health.
To assist the health authorities in the establishment of health policies and systems related to maternal health as a consultative organ.
To improve the understanding of maternal pathologies and coming with the best way to treat the women community.
To date the Centre has a Director, Consultants and Researchers who join for now as part time agents.

The objectives of the training are:
1. To insure capacity building of health care providers and researchers to fill the gaps across the vast country and help the underserved population of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
2. To bring the new knowledges and skills to the professionals working in remote areas or who need continuous medical education.
3. To train the trainers.
The training is directed particularly to the professional nurses and doctors and the duration of the course is determined according to the certificate or diploma for which the participant is registered.
In collaboration with national and international institutions (universities and research centres) the tuitions are being given by highly qualified and experts in each domain. The teachings will give priority in management of childbirth and its emergency conditions (ESMOE) responsible of high maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.
We focused our research in the following topics:
1. Maternal mortality, analysis causes and research of proposal solutions for it reduction.
2. Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy: Preeclampsia/Eclampsia, HELLP Syndrome and Placenta
3. Malaria in Pregnancy
4. Viral infections in Pregnancy: HIV, SARAS-CoV-2
5. High Risk Pregnancy
